Our Railway Super Structure.
⦁ A country’s railway network must enhance the circulation of people and goods, link up the main economic and social centers and contribute to development. Therefore, the line and consequently the superstructure must serve its environment.
⦁ It must not impose on it, but respect it and increase its potential.
⦁ Consequently, it may be necessary to adopt different solutions along different sections of the route or identify one type of superstructure which is suitable for the whole line.

Floating Slab System
This is a type of superstructure made up of a cast-in-place reinforced concrete slab, with embedded prefabricated elements (e.g. sleepers) and a seamless bed laid under the cast concrete. This system is adopted when it is important to drastically reduce vibrations. As a result, it is suitable for stations or other areas where the line runs through the heart of the city.
Sleepers represent the type of superstructure which is traditionally the most widely used throughout the world for railway lines. They require a lower initial investment compared to ballastless systems and naturally favour the drainage of rainwater and noise abatement. However, ballast, by nature, has a tendency to shift: this means that maintenance operations, although simple, have to be carried out at frequent intervals to tamp the ballast and adjust rail geometries over time.
We have the expertise to engineer a system for railway bridges and viaducts which makes it possible to have a single element that encompasses both a structural function, usually performed by the decking, as well as that of the railway superstructure, normally performed by the sleepers and ballast. The system’s strong points:
⦁ reduced time frame to replace existing structures, with minimum upheaval to rail traffic
⦁ reduction in the height and weight of the works and, therefore, an increase in head clearance while maintaining unchanged all functional characteristics of the line

Our engineering is based on concrete experience gained in the field and on the technical know-how of products, their applications and production process. Our engineering departments are specialized in different levels of engineering and are dedicated to specific product lines.
For superstructures, for example, we can execute preliminary, definitive and executive engineering, based on the relative technical specifications and sector standards in force in the country of execution.
Our level crossing machines, are recognized for their high safety standards, are the result of continual investments into research and development.
In the field of railway, metro and tramway superstructures, our experience of products and processes allows us to work alongside the client in the production stages, or create the necessary conditions for manufacturing concrete elements (sleepers, switch bearers, slabs) directly and locally.
Our sleeper manufacturing systems are built, producing moulds in accordance with the specifications dictated by the engineering department which, thanks to various collaborations in the engineering of systems, is able to successfully tackle the characteristics of any project.
For each system for manufacturing railway sleepers, one of our specialized teams intervenes locally in the assembly of the lines and the machinery, supporting the client right up to the time of system commissioning. The same also applies (with different methods) to our switch machines and our level crossings. We have the technology and knowledge in the laying of both ballastless and traditional concrete sleeper type superstructure systems. The project is engineered to reduce operating times on the line to an absolute minimum, manufacturing the elements and most of the construction steps in the production plant.
